Happy Chinese New Year!

12 February 2021

We have been having alot of fun today for Chinese New Year!

The baby room have been making dragons with red and gold glitter play dough. They were very creative and added feathers and spaghetti, and used mark making tools so that they could create their own perfect creatures.

They were able to stretch, roll, poke and squeeze the different textures. They have also explored red objects and have been connecting the blocks together to create a long dragon. Some of the babies also explored using sounds as they celebrated by using pots and pans to create their own firework bangs.

Reception have also had lots of fun today for Chinese New Year. They made their own dragons using their different coloured hand prints and have looked at the different sizes of their hands when they made them. The children also used this activity to develop their counting skills and counted the dragons legs and their finger prints.

The children also used instruments to create their own party music to a Happy New Year song, which they sang in their small groups. They used their imagination to build their own dragons with the mega blocks and enjoyed choosing the different colours to create different sizes and shapes of dragon figures. We have also been tracing over the different chinese letters or words that spell out familiar words.
